Brown, Goldstein & Levy was proud to sponsor and present at the National Federation of the Blind’s Jacobus tenBroek Disability Law Symposium.

Six Brown, Goldstein & Levy attorneys presented at the 2026 Jacobus tenBroek Disability Law Symposium, hosted March 26-27 at the National Federation of the Blind Jernigan Institute in Baltimore. BGL was proud to once again sponsor the event as a longstanding partner of the NFB.

The annual symposium is regarded as the leading disability law conference in the United States, bringing nationally renowned disability rights advocates together. This year’s symposium theme was “Collaboration and Creativity: Addressing Challenges and Advancing Opportunities Now and in the Future.” The two-day program included interactive workshops and plenary sessions focused on intersectional representation in the disability rights community.

The Symposium’s BGL-led presentations were:

  • Advocacy Challenges and Strategies for Prisoners with Disabilities,” presented by Monica Basche, alongside Joseph Longley, staff attorney at ACLU Disability Rights Program, and Amy Robertson, founding partner at Fox & Robertson.
  • Organizing Across the Movement,” presented by Eve Hill, alongside Sanho Steele-Louchart, legal program coordinator at the NFB.
  • Accessible Voting: New Gains and Challenges for the 2026 Midterms,” presented by Lauren Kelleher and Marisa Leib-Neri, alongside Evan Monod, staff attorney at The Arc US (and former BGL Disability Rights Fellow).
  • Litigating ADA Cases Involving Police Misconduct and Mental Health Crises: Recent Developments in the Case Law,” presented by Neel Lalchandani and Jamie Strawbridge, alongside Elizabeth Cruikshank, senior counsel for the Institute for Constitutional Advocacy Protection, and Malhar Shah, attorney at the ACLU Disability Rights Program.

Jessie Weber, Lauren DiMartino, Samantha Westrum, Denise Altobelli, Rachel Slywczak, and Brittney Southward also attended the event.

Each year, the Jacobus tenBroek Disability Law Symposium examines issues, explores strategies, and pursues Dr. Jacobus tenBroek’s goal of the full integration of people with disabilities into society on terms of equality. Dr. tenBroek founded the National Federation of the Blind in 1940.

BGL’s work with the NFB extends as far back as 1986, when Founding Partner Dan Goldstein first took on the role of the organization’s counsel. He remained the NFB’s counsel until his retirement in 2017 and was the first lawyer to successfully argue that the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) applied to the virtual realm. Following his retirement, Partner Eve Hill leads BGL’s work on behalf of the NFB. Eve is one of the country’s leading disability rights attorneys. She also co-leads Inclusivity, BGL’s Strategic Consulting Group, which helps businesses and organizations achieve compliance with the laws supporting the rights of people with disabilities.
