Welcome to another installment of our “Beyond the Courtroom” series: a recap of recent events our attorneys have attended. From conferences and lectures to summits and symposiums, and more, the BGL team is proud to stay connected to the legal and local communities.

Jacqui Cadman attended the Women’s White Collar Defense Association’s Summer Southern Soirée in Washington D.C. on June 24, where she enjoyed an evening of connection and conversation with fellow leading women criminal defense attorneys.

Anthony May and Lauren DiMartino joined WeAchieve—a premier, person-centered organization supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Central Maryland—for its 3rd Annual WeAchieve Champions Award Celebration on June 25th. The event marked more than 70 years of WeAchieve’s service in the community. At the celebration, WeAchieve honored retired BGL managing partner Sharon Krevor-Weisbaum with its Legacy Award for her decades of advocacy and leadership. Sharon’s connection to the organization, formerly known as CHI, began years ago when she represented them as a client. Since then, she has been a steadfast advocate, working on behalf of and alongside individuals with disabilities to advance equity and opportunity—work that BGL has proudly carried on following her retirement. Congratulations, Sharon!

Jacqui Cadman also attended the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy’s National Reception on June 18 at The George Washington University Student Center Continental Ballroom. Jacqui enjoyed meeting other D.C.-based professionals in the legal industry and coming together with community as the crucial work of protecting the rule of law and our democratic institutions continues.

Jessie Weber, Anisha Queen, and Monica Basche attended the 2025 Judicial Conference of the Fourth Circuit, held June 25 to 28. They joined judges within the Fourth Circuit, attorney members, and guests to learn about cutting edge issues in the law and network with fellow federal court practitioners. The conference brings together federal district, magistrate, and appellate judges within the Fourth Circuit, which includes Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. Jessie is a permanent member of the Fourth Circuit Judicial Conference.

Lauren DiMartino and Lauren Kelleher attended the 2025 National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) Annual Convention, hosted June 25 to 28, where Lauren DiMartino also presented on “Lessons for Employment Lawyers from Anti-Trans Cases in Other Areas of Law.” The three-day conference, celebrating NELA’s 40th anniversary, brought over 600 employment lawyers and workers’ rights advocates together for over 30 educational sessions, networking opportunities, and conversations about the fight for workplace justice.
