A team of ten Brown, Goldstein & Levy attorneys and staff members visited the National Federation of the Blind headquarters in Baltimore on July 24. NFB Membership Building Coordinator Danielle McCann and NFB Education Programs Coordinator Karen Anderson led the team on a fun, informative 90-minute tour of the facility, where the BGL team learned about the history of the Federation, learned more about day-to-day operations at its headquarters, and met members of the NFB community.
The NFB established their headquarters in Baltimore in 1978. Since then, their building has grown to encompass an entire city block. In 2004, the NFB headquarters given the named the Jernigan Institute after Dr. Kenneth Jernigan, an early leader in the blind rights movement and at the NFB. The facility houses many features and resources, including modern computer labs, training facilities, conference spaces, full-service dining facilities, the Jacobus tenBroek Library, the Independence Market, and the International Braille and Technology Center for the Blind.
Those in attendance include attorneys Monica Basche, Lauren Kelleher, and Erin O’Neill; summer associates Erin Turvey, Christina Williams, and Helen Zhang; and staff members Maya Campbell, Kayle Hill, Andi McIver, and Alicia Moskal.

Founding partner, Dan Goldstein, first took on the role of the NFB’s counsel in 1986.
