Sharon Krevor-Weisbaum and Lauren DiMartino connected with fellow disability rights attorneys and advocates at the 2024 MACS Annual Meeting & Crab Feast.

Managing Partner Sharon Krevor-Weisbaum and attorney Lauren DiMartino gathered with their colleagues in disability advocacy at the 2024 Maryland Association of Community Services (MACS) Annual Meeting & Crab Feast.

The event, hosted on June 13 at Kurtz’s Beach in Pasadena, was a chance to celebrate MACS’ legislative accomplishments on behalf of people with developmental disabilities and their families, reconnect with colleagues, network, and learn more about MACS’ ongoing work. A yearly event, the MACS Crab Feast provides a fun environment for the MACS community with an all-you-can-eat buffet of Maryland crab and other BBQ favorites.

Beyond the business proceedings of electing new MACS Board members and approving the budget, the event continued to foster a strong sense of community among attendees dedicated to increased focus by provider agencies on ensuring that the individuals they support are living an inclusive and meaningful life in the ways that they want. Sharon and Lauren, both dedicated disability law practitioners, valued the opportunity to listen to and discuss a wide range of topics related to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility across all aspects of day-to-day life.

MACS is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening agencies to better support people with developmental disabilities and their families in their own communities. This is accomplished through advocacy that promotes the highest standards of program excellence; fosters a climate that develops and nurtures a quality workforce; and results in an increased capacity within Maryland communities to support people in inclusive settings.
