Eve Hill and Jamie Strawbridge presented on best practices for recruitment of faculty and staff with disabilities at AHEAD 2025, held annually to elevate the importance of disability access in higher education.

Eve Hill and Jamie Strawbridge, partners at Brown Goldstein & Levy, spoke at AHEAD 2025, the 48th annual conference hosted by the Association on Higher Education and Disability. The conference, which ran from July 14 to 18 in Denver, Colorado, focused on the theme of “Equity & Excellence: Access in Higher Education.” The conference serves as an in-person professional development and networking event for attendees from fields including education, technology, law, scholarship, and government to discuss the importance of on-campus and community disability access.

Eve and Jamie’s seminar was titled, “Beyond Compliance: Innovative Strategies to Recruit and Retain Faculty and Staff with Disabilities.” Their session drew from recent research and data, as well as their deep experience consulting with higher education institutions as co-leaders of Inclusivity, BGL’s Strategic Consulting Group, to explore effective recruitment strategies for candidates with disabilities. They also discussed best practices for ensuring that employees with disabilities, once hired, feel welcome and included with opportunities to thrive in and contribute to the campus environment and culture. Using case studies from for-profit companies, Eve and Jamie described lessons that higher education institutions can adapt for their own recruitment and overall inclusion strategies.
