Brown, Goldstein & Levy managing partner Sharon Krevor-Weisbaum and partner Andy Freeman attended the 24th Annual Equal Justice Awards Breakfast hosted by Maryland Legal Aid and the Equal Justice Council. A large crowd welcomed the Governor and his enthusiastic commitment to the expansion of critical legal services for Marylanders.
Sharon and Andy, who has served on the Council since 2006, were pleased to join Governor Moore and other members of the Maryland legal community in honoring the individuals, law firms, and community partners working to ensure that all Marylanders have fair representation and access to justice.
Maryland Legal Aid is the largest provider in the state for free legal services and is the state’s third largest law firm. As one of the first legal service organizations to adopt a human rights framework to its mission, it works to address major concerns including affordable housing, living wages, and accessible healthcare.
The Equal Justice Council primarily consists of attorneys in the private bar dedicated to supporting Legal Aid and promoting equal access to justice for Maryland’s economically disadvantaged and vulnerable residents. Members work to increase pro bono involvement, participate in educational programs, and connect with other community organizations to support their clients.
