BGL attorney Jamie Strawbridge attended Brooklyn Law School’s and New York Law School’s Reclaiming Disability Justice Symposium on March 31, alongside leading advocates for individuals with disabilities. The event was co-sponsored by Brooklyn Law’s Disability and Civil Rights Clinic and Center for Health, Science & Public Policy, as well as New York Law School’s Civil Rights and Disability Justice Clinic; Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; and Wilf Impact Center for Public Interest Law.
Jamie participated in various discussions about the origins and goals of disability justice, including its intended focus on the lives and experiences of people of color with disabilities and people with disabilities with multi-marginalized identities. He also attended panels exploring disability justice’s relationship to incarceration and reproductive justice and how to ensure advocates and proponents of disability justice are working to make its goals concrete, particularly in the lives of multi-marginalized people with disabilities.
Jamie joined BGL in February 2020. He represents individuals with disabilities, including with respect to access to healthcare, access to voting, and employment matters. He was named a 2023 Maryland Rising Star by Super Lawyers – a recognition reserved for no more than 2.5 percent of attorneys across the State of Maryland. Jamie has also been listed by The Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch for Appellate Practice and Civil Rights Law for 2023.
