Neel Lalchandani attended Innocence Network Conference as advocate for the wrongfully convicted.

Partner Neel Lalchandani attended the annual Innocence Network Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana as an advocate for the wrongfully convicted. In addition to his work representing exonerees, Neel serves as the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project.

“The Innocence Network Conference is an event I look forward to every year,” Neel said. “In addition to building community and hearing from incredible speakers, it is always meaningful and inspiring to spend time with exonerees and their families.”

The Innocence Network Conference brings together directly impacted people, advocates, and others who work to free the innocent, prevent wrongful conviction, and provide post-release support. This annual conference promotes learning and growth through educational programming, relationship-building, collective action, and healing.

Neel Lalchandani represents individuals, nonprofits, and companies in a diverse array of civil rights and commercial matters. Among other victories for his clients, Neel has helped secure several of the largest payments in Maryland history for victims of police misconduct and individuals who were imprisoned for crime they did not commit.

Because of Neel’s depth of experience, he was appointed as an adjunct faculty member at the Georgetown University Law Center to teach a semester-long seminar on wrongful convictions. The course surveys the problem of wrongful convictions in the United States by exploring their primary causes, discussing the legal landscape of innocence litigation and considering the moral, ethical and philosophical implications of wrongful convictions for our justice system.
