Washington, DC (July 26, 2021) – Kobie Flowers, a partner at Brown, Goldstein & Levy, was sworn in as Parliamentarian of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) at the Association’s annual meeting.
Kobie Flowers joined the NACDL Board of Directors in 2018. For over two decades, Kobie has litigated cases in federal and state courts throughout the United States and internationally in the Military Commissions at Guantanamo Bay as a criminal defense lawyer. Kobie was an assistant federal public defender in Baltimore, Maryland, where he successfully represented indigent clients charged with federal felonies. As a member of the Attorney General’s Honors Program and before being a public defender, Kobie was a civil rights prosecutor at the United States Justice Department, Civil Rights Division, Criminal Section for over four years and focused on prosecuting police brutality cases. Now a partner at Brown, Goldstein & Levy, Kobie specializes in representing individuals and businesses in complex criminal and civil matters.
To be Parliamentarian for the NACDL is a great honor and a responsibility that Kobie does not take lightly. Kobie hopes to be an asset to the NACDL given his extensive background in criminal defense.
NACDL’s mission is to serve as a leader, alongside diverse coalitions, in identifying and reforming flaws and inequities in the criminal legal system. That mission also includes redressing systemic racism, and ensuring that its members and others in the criminal defense bar are fully equipped to serve all accused persons at the highest level.
