Partner Kevin Docherty was named to the 2023 Lawdragon 500 Leading Civil Rights & Plaintiff Employment Lawyers list for his practice in employment litigation. This is the second consecutive year Kevin has earned the recognition.
According to Lawdragon, selection to the guide is reserved for “amazing lawyers [who] make it their life’s work to stand up for others who are denied equal treatment, fired, harassed or marginalized in their jobs; shot and killed or subjected to lesser mistreatment by law enforcement or others in position of authority; and sexually abused and violated by those in positions of responsibility.”
Kevin maintains a diverse practice representing individuals in civil rights litigation, employment disputes, and personal injury matters. He also counsels and represents businesses and businesspeople in ownership disputes, breach of contract actions, and other commercial litigation. In addition to his civil practice, Kevin represents individuals in federal and state criminal prosecutions and investigations.
During his tenure at Brown, Goldstein & Levy, Kevin has tried cases to verdict in state and federal court and has represented clients in contested hearings before administrative agencies. He has also argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Kevin has proudly defended his clients numerous times in employment litigation cases, including for an individual who filed a lawsuit against his former employer for disability discrimination in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act and state law.
