Eve Hill co-authored American Bar Association Business Law Today article discussing new developments and risk mitigation for digital accessibility under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Brown Goldstein & Levy partner and leading disability rights attorney Eve Hill shared her legal expertise in a recent article she co-authored for the August edition of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Today magazine. Eve wrote the article, entitled, “Digital Accessibility Under Title III of the ADA: Recent Developments and Risk Mitigation Best Practices,” alongside Lori J. Sommerfield of Troutman Pepper Locke, Susan Fahey Desmond of Jackson Lewis, and Matthew Ater of Vispero.

The article explores Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which requires public accommodations to ensure effective communications with individuals with disabilities, including making websites and mobile applications accessible. Throughout the article, Eve and her co-authors explain the current regulatory environment, the state of digital accessibility litigation, and potential legislative solutions to the challenges they pose. The authors also highlight steps businesses can take to mitigate the risk of potential Title III lawsuits for failing to ensure websites and mobile applications are accessible for individuals with disabilities.

Eve was part of the BGL team that resolved the long-running website and mobile app accessibility case brought by Guillermo Robles, a blind man from Los Angeles, against Domino’s Pizza. On behalf of Mr. Robles, Eve and the team obtained a court order holding that Domino’s violated the ADA by maintaining an inaccessible website and requiring Domino’s to make its website accessible.
