Chelsea Crawford connects with leading legal minds at the 2023 University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law Alumni Weekend.

Chelsea CrawfordBGL partner Chelsea Crawford participated in the 2023 University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law Alumni Weekend from March 30 through April 1.

Chelsea, who is a Carey Law Alumni Reunion Committee member, helped spread the word about the various activities throughout the weekend, including lectures and networking events. Chelsea also attended the Alumni Honors Banquet, where she joined her peers in celebrating the 2023 awards recipients.

Chelsea remains active as a proud Carey Law alumna. In February 2023, she was a featured guest speaker for a discussion regarding decarceration, hosted by the Journal of Race, Religion, Gender & Class. The discussion, which took place on Monday, February 27, drew upon Chelsea’s experience litigating police misconduct and Juvenile Restoration Act cases. During law school, Chelsea served as the executive editor for the Journal of Race, Religion, Gender and Class. Chelsea is also overseeing and joining the work of students in the Post-Conviction and Sentencing: Legal Theory and Practice Clinic as they prepare Juvenile Restoration Act motions on behalf of incarcerated individuals.

Chelsea joined BGL in September 2015 and has a diverse civil practice. She represents clients in civil matters including complex civil litigation, personal injury and wrongful death, police misconduct, and wrongful conviction. At BGL, Chelsea has worked on some of the largest wrongful conviction and police misconduct cases in the State of Maryland. In 2021, she obtained a $6.5 million settlement on behalf of the family of Eric Sopp, an unarmed man in distress who was shot and killed by a Baltimore County police officer. It was one of the largest settlements in State and County history.
