This week, Brown, Goldstein & Levy proudly stood up for the critical role of the legal profession in protecting the Constitution and rule of law by joining over 3,000 individuals and organizations in the legal community in signing an open letter urging Attorney General Pam Bondi to oppose the Trump Administration’s egregious attacks on the legal profession.
Led by Democracy Forward, the letter emphasizes the importance of ensuring that lawyers can operate without fear of retaliation for bringing lawsuits in good faith. It also condemns efforts to discourage legal professionals from standing up for their clients and holding institutions accountable. The letter states:
“Lawyers, judges, and legal advocates share a commitment to the United States Constitution, the rule of law, and the role of the legal system in protecting the rights of all people and ensuring all of us can have our day in court.”
Recently, the Trump Administration has lodged unprecedented attacks against the legal profession, including the American Bar Association, law firms, and government attorneys. A recent executive order issued by President Trump also calls for investigations into law firms engaged in pro bono work—particularly those advocating for at-risk communities and equal representation.
Brown, Goldstein & Levy has been actively engaged in fighting the Trump Administration’s unlawful and dangerous conduct. Eve Hill and Anisha Queen—representing probationary and trial period employees formerly employed by the Small Business Administration (SBA)—filed a class appeal before the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) challenging the Trump Administration’s illegal termination of a large swath of the agency’s workforce. Terminated employees performed functions that are critical to fulfilling the agency’s core mission of helping small businesses succeed. Eve Hill also won a temporary restraining order on behalf of three transgender women in federal correctional facilities, challenging the Administration’s Executive Order aimed to transfer them to men’s facilities and cease medical care. We will continue to advocate zealously for our clients, undeterred by the administration’s attempts to bully law firms that challenge it.
At Brown, Goldstein & Levy, every team member shares a deep commitment to community engagement and social responsibility. For nearly 40 years, we have supported Baltimore City through dedicated pro bono advocacy, as well as partnerships with organizations fighting for fair housing, civil rights, and social justice.
