BGL proudly sponsored the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project’s 25th Anniversary Gala, recognizing our shared commitment to representing innocent people who have been wrongfully convicted.

Three people dressed in formal attire are smiling and posing for a photo at an indoor event with dim blue lighting. The woman on the left is wearing a red dress and holding a wine glass. The man in the center is wearing an all-black suit and also holding a wine glass. The man on the right is wearing a dark suit with a white shirt and plaid tie. Other guests and event decor are visible in the background.

Brown, Goldstein & Levy proudly sponsored the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project’s 25th Anniversary Gala at the Defender of Innocence level, signifying our shared commitment to representing innocent people who have been wrongfully convicted. The fundraiser event was held on May 16 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington D.C.

Many members of our BGL community, including Neel Lalchandani, Jacqui Cadman, Catalina Odio, Maya Campbell, attended the event. Neel, a partner at the firm, serves as Vice Chair of the MAIP Board of Directors. Throughout the evening, BGL celebrated MAIP’s success in securing the release of over 44 individuals who collectively endured 889 years in prison for crimes they did not commit.

BGL is proud to support MAIP’s mission to prevent and correct the conviction of innocent people across Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia. We were honored to receive the 2024 Defender of Innocence award at MAIP’s 15th Annual Awards Luncheon, recognizing our work securing historic settlements for exonerees and advocating reforms to exoneree compensation laws. We have obtained substantial verdicts and settlements for numerous clients who were convicted of crimes they did not commit, including some of the largest settlements in the State of Maryland.
