Anthony May joined the American Diabetes Association webinar on Diabetes Rights and Public Accommodations as part of the 2025 annual Fighting for Fairness webinar series.

Brown, Goldstein & Levy partner Anthony May joined colleague Brittany Bruggemann, M.D., as a speaker for the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Fighting for Fairness 2025 webinar series. Anthony spoke on “The Rights of People with Diabetes in Public Accommodations” on February 19, 2025.

The Fighting for Fairness webinar series, which consists of six sessions, addresses various areas of discrimination, covering topics such as Diabetes 101, case law updates, education and childcare, detention settings, employment, and public accommodations. Each session features both an expert attorney and a healthcare provider in the field.

Anthony May was joined by Dr. Brittany Bruggemann, a pediatric endocrinologist, physician-scientist, educator, and advocate for children with diabetes. Dr. Bruggemann serves as an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Endocrinology at the University of Florida College of Medicine. Together, Anthony and Dr. Bruggemann discussed the legal protections for individuals with diabetes in public accommodations, including concerts, sporting events, hospitals, and TSA screenings. They provided attendees with examples of reasonable accommodations available in these settings.

As advocates for individuals with disabilities, Anthony and Dr. Bruggemann emphasized that people with diabetes have the right to fully participate in society without sacrificing medical safety or facing discrimination.

Anthony J. May has represented clients in a variety of complex litigation matters including assisting employees with disabilities in obtaining accessible technology and accommodations in the workplace, representing individuals who have been wrongfully convicted, commercial litigation disputes, and fighting workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation.
