Jacqui Cadman attended the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia Co-Chair Retreat and Albert J. Krieger Annual Meeting of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, while Lauren DiMartino, Erin O’Neill, Catalina Odio, and summer associates enjoyed a performance at Baltimore’s Creative Alliance.

Welcome to another installment of our “Beyond the Courtroom” series: a recap of recent events our attorneys have attended. From conferences and lectures to summits and symposiums, and more, the BGL team is proud to stay connected to the legal and local communities.

Partner Jacqui Cadman attended a Co-Chair Retreat hosted by the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia (WBA-DC) on June 23. Jacqui serves as co-founder and co-chair of the WBA-DC Criminal Law Forum, which she launched in May 2025 to create a community for current and aspiring women criminal law practitioners. The afternoon retreat was an opportunity to connect with fellow co-chairs and begin to plan programming for the WBA calendar.

Jacqui Cadman also attended the 2025 Albert J. Krieger Annual Meeting of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL). Hosted in Minneapolis from July 9 to 12, the meeting was an opportunity to develop trial skills and hear new perspectives on the practice of criminal defense law. The four-day event included faculty-led seminars, networking and social events, and extracurricular activities.

Attorneys Lauren DiMartino, Erin O’Neill, Catalina Odio, and summer associates Rachel Bechtel, Lyllian Simerly, Kristina Smith, and Mira Ward enjoyed a performance at Baltimore’s Creative Alliance on July 17. The group attended artist Black Assets’ Soul Stage Summer Edition performance, which celebrated soulful R&B style that blends hip-hop, jazz, opera, and the spoken word of singer and poet Jill Scott. BGL is a proud corporate sponsor of the Creative Alliance and looks forward to continuing our partnership in community engagement across Baltimore.
