Brown, Goldstein & Levy is proud to congratulate retired BGL partner Joshua Treem on receiving the prestigious Robert C. Heeney Memorial Award, which is given annually by the Maryland State Bar Association Section of Criminal Law and Practice in honor of the celebrated Montgomery County criminal litigator who died in 1981.This award is presented to those individuals exemplifying the highest professional standards and achievement in the field of criminal law and practice during their distinguished careers.
The Section Council voted unanimously to approve Josh’s nomination for the award, said James Papirmeister, the Section’s chair.
“This is the capstone of an outstanding career serving the citizens of Maryland in state and federal courts as both a prosecutor and a criminal defense attorney in the pursuit of justice,” Papirmeister said, as reported by The Daily Record.
Throughout his career, Josh was recognized as one of the leading criminal defense attorneys in Baltimore, representing individual and corporate clients in a broad spectrum of legal matters. He appeared frequently in state and federal courts across Maryland and neighboring jurisdictions in cases involving virtually every facet of criminal investigations and prosecutions.
Founding partner Andy Levy described Josh’s 40-plus-year career as “remarkable” and noted that the award was well-deserved. In 2020, Andy also received the Heeney Award.
