Partner Anisha Queen was featured in the Maryland State Bar Association’s Maryland Bar Journal, in which she described how her passion for seeking equity has led to her professional success as an attorney.
The article, included as part of the Journal’s “Career Highlights” section, detailed Anisha’s decision to focus her legal profession on employment, housing, and disability discrimination cases after seeing first-hand the discrimination that she and others faced.
Anisha, a member of the MSBA, shared that her passion is also fueled by interactions with her clients.
“When clients reach out to our firm (or me directly), it is because something serious is going on in their lives,” Anisha said in the Journal. “I appreciate the great responsibility it is to serve as an advocate concerning a wrongdoing or action that is often the focus of their lives at the time. I enjoy phone calls, emails and texts, as well as the opportunities I have to assure them that we will do our best to make sure their rights are vindicated.”
Anisha has been recognized for her excellence in the legal profession. She was named in the inaugural 2023 Lawdragon 500 X – The Next Generation guide, named as one of the Daily Record’s 2023 Leading Women, and listed in The Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch.
She has also been named to Super Lawyers’ Maryland Rising Stars guide each year since 2021.
She told the MSBA Journal that she is most proud of obtaining a favorable settlement for a hard-working client who was terminated from her employer just three days after taking leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act due to having multiple sclerosis.
“There are a lot of (varying) opinions on what it takes to be a good lawyer,” Anisha told the Journal. “At the end of the day, I understand that I am the best advocate when I am advocating in a way that is true to who I am and what I believe in.”
