Brown, Goldstein & Levy and partner Jacqueline Cadman, head of BGL’s Criminal Defense Section, are honored to host nationally recognized civil rights attorney Alec Karakatsanis, founder of Civil Rights Corps and author of Copaganda: How Police and the Media Manipulate Our News, for a meaningful discussion on how media is used to fuel mass incarceration.
Mr. Karakatsanis will be joined by a local reporter for a discussion on the role of media in shaping narratives about crime, the systemic harms caused by “Copaganda,” and the pathways toward dismantling mass incarceration.
This event will be held at Busboys and Poets at 14th and V on December 4, from 5-8pm. It will provide legal professionals, advocates, and community leaders with valuable insights into the intersection of media, public perception, and the criminal legal system.
