A major victory for the visually impaired and physically disabled
The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decision upheld a New York federal Judge’s October 2012 ruling in favor of the National Federation of the Blind in a copyright infringement case the Authors Guild, Inc. had brought against university libraries planning to digitize published works in their collections in Authors Guild, Inc. v. HathiTrust.
The decision is “very big, big win” for those who cannot see or use printed works due to physical disabilities, said Dan Goldstein. Dan and Jessie Weber represented the National Federation of the Blind.
