Eve Hill discusses Americans with Disabilities Act on Burton Blatt Institute “Disability Rights Today” podcast.

President George H.W. Bush signing the ADA with text on the bottom "The ADA Three Decades Later: How Are We Doing?"Eve Hill, partner at Brown, Goldstein & Levy was featured on an April 13 episode of Disability Rights Today, a podcast produced by the Burton Blatt Institute at Syracuse University. The podcast centered on the Americans with Disabilities Act, which was passed 32 years ago. Eve and the podcast’s host, Burton Blatt Institute Chairman Peter Blanck, discussed how far the ADA has come since its ratification and what gaps remain today in realizing its full potential in disability rights law.

During her interview, Eve said that we are “at a catalyst point” in terms of the equality of people with disabilities in the United States. She explained that while disability rights are receiving pushback, and some people are more blatantly prejudiced toward people with disabilities today, it is the younger generation that has the attitudes that will help to secure equality.

“If the young people, as they should, get to take over the world, we will be in excellent shape,” Eve said. “If these old attitudes, which are clinging to the old attitudes in the face of this transformation stay for longer, we will continue to be in this fairly bad place for a long time.”

Eve was joined by Jason Turkish, the president and managing partner of Nyman Turkish, PC. Listen to the full podcast by clicking here.
