Chelsea Crawford has been named to the Maryland Rising Stars list by Super Lawyers for 2023, her sixth year in a row!

Chelsea CrawfordBrown, Goldstein & Levy partner, Chelsea Crawford, was named a Maryland Rising Star in the “General Litigation” category by Super Lawyers, an honor reserved for no more than 2.5 percent of lawyers across the State of Maryland. Chelsea has been a fixture on the Rising Stars list each year since 2018.

Chelsea joined Brown Goldstein & Levy in September 2015 and has maintained a diverse and growing civil litigation practice, including substantial work in wrongful conviction, police misconduct, and disability rights cases. She is also experienced in criminal defense, investigations, serious personal injury, and wrongful death cases. In 2022, she and a team of BGL attorneys obtained $8 million on behalf of an exoneree’s estate. The year prior, she obtained a $6.5 million settlement on behalf of the family of Eric Sopp, an unarmed man in distress who was shot and killed by a Baltimore County police officer. It was one of the largest settlements in Maryland and Baltimore County history.

Chelsea is a 2022 recipient of The Daily Record’s Leading Women award, which honors women from across Maryland who are 40 years of age or younger for the accomplishments they have made so far in their careers. She has been recognized by Lawdragon as one of the nation’s leading 500 plaintiff employment and civil rights lawyers for 2022 and has been named to 2022 The Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch list for Civil Rights Law, Criminal Defense – General Practice, and Litigation – Labor and Employment. Chelsea was selected to serve as co-lead of Public Safety Policy Team for Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown’s Transition Steering Committee and is active in several bar associations and organizations in Maryland. She is Chair of the Leadership Committee member of the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service’s Community Advocacy Network, a member of the My Sisters’ Place Leadership Circle, and a member of the Alliance of Black Women Attorneys of Maryland.

Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Both the Super Lawyers and Rising Stars lists selection process includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations. To be eligible for inclusion in the Rising Star list, attorneys must be either 40 years old or younger or in practice for ten years or less.
