BGL’s Kobie Flowers attends Washington, D.C., fundraiser for Gideon’s Promise.

Brown, Goldstein & Levy partner Kobie Flowers recently attended a fundraiser in Washington, D.C. to help advance the work of Gideon’s Promise. MacArthur Genius Jon Rapping founded Gideon’s Promise 15 years ago. In the spirit of Gideon v. Wainwright—the 1963 Supreme Court case guaranteeing a lawyer for the accused who cannot afford a lawyer—Gideon’s Promise trains and mentors public defenders nationwide to be the best possible lawyers for the poor.

The support of members of the legal community, like Kobie, empowers public defenders nationwide to advocate for thousands of vulnerable individuals each year. Gideon’s army of public defenders is often the difference between hope and devastation for the accused.

Kobie Flowers, a former assistant federal public defender, is one of the nation’s preeminent trial lawyers, with over twenty years of courtroom experience. He is widely renowned for his legal acumen and often teaches the art of trial lawyering to other lawyers across the country, empowering the next generation of trial lawyers to ensure equal justice for all, regardless of their income level. Kobie is a formidable advocate for the wrongly accused and wrongly convicted. He is consistently recognized as a top lawyer by publications like Lawdragon, Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers, and Washingtonian, as well as by organizations like the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
